Haugland Energy delivered critical onshore infrastructure for the Sunrise Wind project, including the installation of a 17.5-mile single-circuit 320-kV DC XLPE underground duct bank system from the Transition Joint Bay (TJB) at Smith Point County Park to the new AC/DC Converter Station, as well as a 1.1-mile double-circuit 138-kV AC duct bank connecting the station to the existing Holbrook Substation. The scope also included installation of the TJB vault, 38 splice vaults, 44 handholes across the DC and AC routes, and six trenchless crossings, supporting the region’s transition to clean, renewable energy.
As the first contractor to execute offshore wind infrastructure in New York State, the project presented unique engineering and logistical challenges. Leveraging the capabilities of the Haugland family of companies, the team self-performed all major scopes, including civil construction, electrical work, cable installation, splicing, and horizontal directional drilling.
