PSEG Long Island selected Haugland Energy for the installation of approximately 16 miles of underground 138kV cable in conduit from Riverhead to the Canal Substation, including new splice vaults within the Town of Southampton. Haugland Energy installed a new splice vault and diverted the existing spare conduit into the new splice vault. Once completed, the 138kV cable was installed for the new circuit railroad crossing.
Haugland Energy affiliate Grace Industries provided all required civil construction work, including splice vault installation (39 EA), installation of new conduit connecting the new splice vaults to the existing spare conduits, and all associated shoring, excavation, backfill, and maintenance and protection of traffic.
Grace also provided civil support, including excavation for connections into the two substations. The project included cable pulling, 117 splices in manholes, and 6 terminations completed by our trained and certified splicing team.
