Grace Industries (Grace) was contracted by the New York State Department of Transportation to perform full-depth repairs of existing roadway joints along I-287. The scope of work included removing the existing concrete road slab and asphalt overlay and replacing it with a 3-inch subbase and a 14-inch 25 F9 binder course asphalt across 10.2 miles of both westbound and eastbound lanes.
Due to high traffic volumes, all work was performed at night. In addition to the full-depth repairs, Grace milled and paved 2 inches of the entire roadway surface, including shoulders and on- and off-ramps. The project also involved installing permanent grooved-in wet-night reflective line striping, cleaning and modifying existing drainage catch basins, and installing milled-in audible roadway delineators.
