Eastern Utilities Services (EUS) was contracted by Appalachian Pipeline to install (3) HDD crossings for Duke Energy near Nashville, TN. The project scope included dual installs of 4,400 LF of steel gas main and 4,400 LF of cathodic cable, along with a third 900 LF HDD of 12” steel gas main. The dual 4,400 LF installs were completed via gyro intersect with HDD rigs on both sides of the crossing. Challenging drilling conditions were encountered within the limestone and clay seams, requiring a mud engineer, mud sweeps and washover casing. The project was completed successfully ahead of schedule.
