I was 30 years old when I arrived in the United States from Portugal. One of my relatives, who happens to be a member of Local Laborers’ 1010, helped me join the union soon after I arrived here. Through an apprenticeship program, I learned about the business which would later bring me to Haugland Group.

My current role at Haugland is with our Civil Division, Grace Industries LLC. My specialization is working with asphalt. I work alongside many experienced people who have been in this trade for many years. It’s through their experience, I’m able to learn new skills. Haugland Group also offers many safety classes. This way I’m able to stay up to date with current safety regulations.
