Offshore projects employ hundreds of local workers now, assure countless opportunities for the next generation workforce, and will generate millions in revenue for Long Island businesses and communities.
Twelve wind-powered turbines are now spinning beyond the horizon, 35 miles off Montauk. South Fork Wind will generate enough clean energy to 70,000 homes each year. It is New York’s first offshore wind farm, and the first utility-scale project of its kind in the country. Many more of these modern turbines will soon be spinning far off our shores, generating clean power for communities across Long Island.
