Port Engineer

Haugland Marine Service, a subsidiary of Haugland Group, has an immediate need for a full-time Port Engineer.

Key Functions

  • Responsible for scheduling, coordination, oversight of vessel maintenance, repair and safe execution of all engineering needs.
  • Responsible for annual repair and maintenance of company assets
  • Acts as liaison with the vessel Chief Engineer/Captain on required maintenance needs
  • Managing other fleet assets such as Barges and Port equipment
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance inspections are scheduled to avoid lapse in operations
  • Reviews vessels reports and closes outstanding maintenance jobs, reviews/approves requisitions.
  • Assists in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for vessel equipment
  • Takes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning urgent vessel maintenance, repairs and engineering operations.
  • Organizes and manages shipyard periods

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of engine room experience aboard vessels
  • Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical operations related to Marine systems
  • Technical knowledge of vessel repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of applicable U.S. Coast Guard rules and regulations
  • Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with vessel operations
  • Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery
  • Valid MMC preferred
  • Valid TWIC
