The Western Nassau Transmission Project included the installation of a 7 mile, 138 kV underground transmission circuit in Western Nassau County, connecting the Valley Stream Substation to the East Garden City Substation. Haugland Energy completed all cable pulling, 69 manhole splices, and 6 terminations using a trained and certified splicing team, along with the installation of fiber optic communication systems.
Grace Industries, a Haugland affiliate, performed all civil construction required for the project, including excavation, trench backfill, and management of horizontal directional drilling operations. The team installed approximately 37,000 cubic yards of flowable thermal backfill, which was manufactured using native sand generated from trenching activities.
