Haugland Energy completed turnkey construction of a switchyard and STATCOM facility, including site work, concrete foundations, building erection, interior finishes, HVAC, electrical systems, security, control and protection systems, landscaping, fencing, a sound wall, the AZZ control building, transformers, and shunt reactors. The project also included installation of SWPP systems, land clearing, extensive grounding and lightning protection, mechanical piping for the valve cooling system, and full installation of SCADA racks and control wiring within the Control Building and Power Distribution Center.
The team was responsible for receiving, inventorying, and performing QA/QC on all owner-furnished equipment required for both the switchyard and STATCOM system components. The STATCOM building was erected with all required electromagnetic field (EMF) shielding. Leveraging the strength of the Haugland family of companies, multiple trades including electricians, operating engineers, laborers, and HVAC mechanics were self-performed to successfully deliver this complex, multi-discipline project.
