Polymer Insulator Live Line Replacements

Haugland Energy completed the energized replacement of all three phases of 230 kV polymer insulators across 28 structures on the “Bridge to Watts” transmission line. Work was performed using barehand procedures in conjunction with a LineWise TLL 3000 insulated aerial device, allowing crews to maintain system reliability throughout execution. Seven angle structures required specialized rigging and modified barehand techniques due to increased mechanical loads, unique force considerations, and limited accessibility. This project also required extensive coordination, including daily lane closures along Bee Line Highway, installation of matting at each location, ongoing traffic management, and occasional full road closures to ensure safe operations for both crews and the public.
