Environmental Compliance Project Manager

Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based electrical and heavy civil construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Environmental Compliance Project Engineer to join our team.

Key Functions

  • Performing a variety of activities supporting the Port Authority of NY and NJ reporting requirements
  • Performing field inspections and reviewing operations to confirm facilities are operating in accordance with standards
  • Inspecting non-hazardous material storage areas and general process operations
  • Enforcing provisions of wastewater and storm water standards including Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Creating and maintaining various types of reports and records to support compliance reporting requirements
  • Assists in the research, development, implementation, and presentation of new programs
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting requirements.
  • Keeping thorough records
  • Performs related duties as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering as applied to environmental engineering; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations applicable to environmental and safety compliance Principles and methods of conducting and analyzing complex water quality and environmental studies
  • Principles and methods of conducting environmental risk assessments and onsite environmental inspections
  • Compile, interpret, and evaluate numerical data
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and expertise on environmental and safety compliance issues
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Safety, Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field is required
