Payroll Manager

Haugland Group has an immediate need for a full-time for a full-time Payroll Manager.

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, highly organized individual to join our payroll department and provide all facets of payroll administration, including the processing of weekly, multi-state in-house payroll for union employees.

This position is located in Melville, NY.

Key Functions

Analyze, prepare and input data to process in-house payroll for 400+ employees
Enter and update union benefit information for new and existing employees
Verify weekend time coding, dependent upon union rules
Assure accurate and timely running of union payroll
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports
Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with in-house payroll processing for a multi-state employer
Bachelor degree in business or a related field preferred
MUST have in-house experience processing union payroll
Previous experience overseeing a support staff of up to three payroll administrators
Knowledge of State and Federal wage, tax laws and overtime requirements
This is position is critically dependent on computer system interaction. Extensive computer experience is necessary. Experience with Viewpoint a plus.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
Ability to work within a fast-paced customer-oriented environment, and provide quality service in a confidential work environment
Participates productively as a contributing member in a team environment
Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner
Ability to identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations
Effective communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, and a strong work ethic
